about

This was originally recorded on a stairway in my mother and father-in-laws house. I had an H4 recorder, my guitar, and the Bible. I wanted something folkish and moving. I used my foot to thump and, on the original, the sound was kind of impressively bass-ish. I re-recorded it about 2 years later, added some piano and banjo sound, as well as real bass drum thump.

lyrics

In You, oh Lord, I take refuge.
Let me not be put to shame.
Rescue me, deliver me.
Turn Your ear to me and save me.
Be my rock, be my rock, be my rock, be my rock.

Your righteousness it reaches to the skies.
You who have done great things.
Who, oh God, who is like You.
Though I've seen troubles, many and bitter,
Who will restore my life again.
Be my rock, be my rock, be my rock, be my rock.

In You, oh Lord, I take refuge.
Let me not be put to shame.
Rescue me, deliver me.
Turn Your ear to me and save me.
Be my rock, be my rock, be my rock, be my rock.

But as for me, I will have hope,
I will bring praise to You more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteousness,
of Your salvation all day long.

But as for me, I will have hope,
I will bring praise to You more and more.
My mouth will sing of your righteousness,
of Your salvation all day long.
Be my rock, be my rock, be my rock, be my rock.
